The surprise birthday party

I wasn't sure what to write about for my last post. So, I will share something I found out about a few weeks ago. My sister told me that my family is planning a surprise party for me in October. The reason she told me is because my mom initially wanted to tell me, but my sister convinced her that it would be best that it was a secret. But, I guess she realized that it wouldn't work out because they wanted me to invite my coworkers and friends. My sister also told me that she wanted to buy the dress I would wear but once again she would have no reason to buy me a dress unless she told me the reason why. So she had no choice but to fess up haha!
I hope you guys have a great summer!

Flexibility

Okay, so my search for a part time job has definitely been difficult. I applied to many jobs and got interviews for several. I kept getting told that I did really good on my interview and that they would like to hire me, but I need to have more flexibility on my schedule. Which has resulted in me turning down my 3rd job this week alone. I need to find a place that can benefit from having someone during the day rather than at night. Other than that, life has been crazy, but it has been getting so much better.... in some areas. I was thinking of maybe working with a wedding photographer since I am a licensed Officiant and I know that many couples would like to have the option to get married where they choose instead of having to go into a chapel. However, I now work Friday/Saturdays so that will definitely not be possible since couples like getting married on weekends for obvious reasons haha! But, I will keep looking and see if anyone is willing to take me in.

The Lego Store

This is probably going to be the dorkiest thing I write this semester but here it goes.

I applied for a job at the Lego Store. If you guys remember about a week ago I mentioned that I was looking for a second job. I applied to a bunch of places, but the one place I really wanted to hear back from was from them. I wanted to apply somewhere I feel like I could actually enjoy. If I'm going to be working 65 hours a week, I would prefer to at least have fun in 25 of those haha! Hopefully all goes well!

The good and bad

Good news! I finally start my new job on Tuesday. It was such a long process but I can't wait. I was given the final paperwork to sign and was told same day that it was my last day in my current position. The day was bittersweet on my last day especially for my other co worker since we need all the help we can get at the station. But! It's time to move on.

Bad news! That same day, I was trying to help as much as I could before leaving so it wouldn't be too bad. At some point I dropped my phone and cracked my screen. Not only was it cracked, but I could no longer see 1/3 of my screen. I had to spend money on a new phone that was not worth it. It was either a new phone or a $340 screen repair.

So I guess that was life grounding me back to reality. I knew things were going too well. Nonetheless, it was a good day regardless of what this blog probably sounds like in your head. Have a good days guys!

Birthday

My moms birthday is coming up (May 6)! We are currently trying to figure out what to make for her. She likes any food we make (at least, that's what she tells us) but I don't know if she has been craving anything in particular lately. My sister wants to make a fruit tart and I was thinking of getting a strawberry cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Might have to do a bit of investigating to see if there is something particular she wants. If all else fails I may just ask her directly.

We also need a cake. She really likes the cakes from this café called "Paris Baguette", but I'm personally a fan of the "Nothing Bunt Cakes" cakes. Plus, we get cakes from PB all the time so I may just compromise and look for a brand new place to order a cake! If all else fails I can just make it up to her on the 8th or the 10th (Mothers day in America and Mexico).

Scheduled Blogs

Okay so I had no idea you could schedule these blogs to go up at specific times which is absolutely amazing! But, I was given a fair warning that it would not work all of the time so I will try to keep an aye out for that. In the meantime, I am totally going to figure out what I want to write about in the next post and start typing it now! Other than that there is not much to say. I am making a lot more progress with my new bird! She is always very scared compared to my other two birds. She is definitely the youngest and smallest so I understand. Her brother ended up passing away unexpectedly so I know she feels a lot more lonely. But! She has been getting less scared of getting on my hand which is amazing! I would go and try to get her a friend, but they are about $200 each and I already spent $700 on bird #2 soooooo.... human affection will have to do for the time being. Here is a picture of Tweety. Yes. Tweety. Okay I don't exactly know the gender of my bird, so I went with that name. In this picture you can see a bird ready for naptime. What is not depicted in these images were the 20 minutes I spent looking for my bird because she was not in her usual spots.

TD08 3D Model

3D models look super cool! I have not had the chance to use it personally, but it will definitely be something I try to incorporate in a future project! I had no idea you could even zoom in on the model or even rotate the model to show certain angles. Would have loved to know this info back in high school.

The Kinder Egg

There is not much to talk about today honestly. Very nice weather we are having. So instead of boring everyone with a story, here is a Kinder egg. Yes, a real one. I found it in a Mexican store. 10/10 would get again. If there is a word minimum I apologize but there isn't much to say about this egg haha

Part time

I am trying to save up for a house. I know that nowadays that seems way out of of reach because of pricing, but i think i have been doing well enough to go for it sometime around the end of the year/beginning of next year. I was thinking of getting a small part time job so i can have the money for myself. My main job would provide for all my bills and everything else that remains could go into my savings. However, I don't know many jobs willing to hire for only around 15-20 hours a week. Good thing there's not too much rush right now!

Zion

So yesterday was Easter so happy Easter to everyone! And if you do not celebrate Easter then happy Sunday! and I hope you guys all enjoyed or at least took advantage of this spring break! My family and I went to Zion which we had not been to in a couple of years so it was very nice to see something else other than buildings everywhere. I played with my little cousins near a river which was super cold. They were all trying to skip rocks at some point and everything just felt perfect. Nice weather, my family all here having a fun time, no cell phones, and so many snacks. But, that's all I really have to say sooo....
I will end my blog with a joke.

Did you know that alligators can live up to 50 years? That's why there is an increased chance that they will see you later.

You guys can roll your eyes now haha!

Super Crooks, WandaVision, and the prank that never was

Okay, I did my part. I watched the first episode of 'Super Crooks'. In the beginning it was a bit odd. Funny, but odd. I don't think I was supposed to laugh when everyone died, but it was honestly what the first episode needed. I'm glad the first episode included the last 5 minutes instead of leaving on a cliff hanger and continuing on episode 2. I would have probably stopped watching haha.

Now that I am actually going to continue watching this anime, it's my friends turn to watch 'WandaVision'. He was the one that recommended the anime, but the catch was that he has to watch a show I pick as well. I absolutely can not wait for the next season! Also, anyone else excited to see 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'?!?!

Lastly, I got an update. Not what I expected, but an update nonetheless. So my mom was unaware of what I was planning, and went to go pick up my sister from the party. However, in doing so, she took the gift with her and gave it to the birthday girl when she arrived. Thankfully she had switched the gifts at least because it would have been pretty funny and messed up to open your gift and its all just broken. But, the next day I went up to my sister and just showed her the broken gift. The first thing that comes out of her mouth is "Did I really just give my friend a big birthday bag with only a lotion and body spray?!" I was just about to tell her what happened when she said that. Hey, not what I planned, but a plan nonetheless.

I let her believe that for like 5 minutes until I told her that there was a replacement inside. She was not a happy camper though during those few minutes she believed me haha!

Beauty and The Beast (short version)

Okay, Mistakes were made so here I am again.

Basically, my sister went to a quinceañera the other day, and completely forgot the birthday girls gift. In an effort to save the gift from falling off my bed, I graciously picked up. And proceeded to drop it on the floor. Good job me. So I went to go pick up a replacement at the same store she bought the first gift.

Unfortunately for my sister, my mom decided to have a kid before her. Me. And me being the older sister, I decided I would seize this opportunity by reenacting the first time I dropped the bag, but with the broken gift inside of course. You can see what happened already on my new blog posted today.

Slideshow

Today I took my MOS exam and passed! It feels good to have one more thing checked off my to do list! I also got to present my slideshow on Saturday. I was not too excited for that, but I'm glad I wont have to worry about it anymore! When we were comparing the original to the final version presented on the projector, you could tell my font was too small to read. Overall, I appreciated the feedback and presenting wasn't as bad as I thought.

TD07 & the interview

Hey! So I am currently unable to access all other blogger posts here at work, but I wanted to post something real quick. Yesterday a manager came up to me to tell me I have been selected for an interview! I was unable to apply for a new position until I was a year into my first promotion, but now that I am a year in I am super excited for what is to come! I have been eyeing this particular position for 7 months now so I am super excited to have the opportunity to do the interview! I will come back and add about a topic I learned if I need to, but for now that is all.

I am back!

Data protection is such an amazing tool! Many people do not know how to navigate through Excel well, so it is one less thing to worry about when trying to share files. People can also unintentionally change something which could cause formulas or special rules to no longer work. I really like the fact that we can also add a pin so people who are intentionally trying to change data can not do so either.

TD06 & the bad news

Endnotes!!! The best thing I learned in word. I used to manually type in the numbers and change the font so it would look like an endnote. This would ultimately take like 10 minutes to make sure it did not look too out of place.

Lately I've been bummed out. I had an appointment last week and it did not turn out the way I was hoping. My doctor said I was still not cleared to drive due to ongoing symptoms. But, I was given a little bit of hope with my next appointment. Hopefully by the end of this month I am cleared to get my license back! Definitely a rough 8 months but I already made it this far. I guess that's all I have to share for today.

Introspective blog

I wanted to come back to school this semester because I want to get my Associates next year. Last year was hectic to say the least, but now that things have settled down just a bit I decided to give school another shot. Part of me was excited to come back. Another part of me was scared that I would not be able to keep up since its been over a year since I took classes. But, this semester is better than initially anticipated! My proudest moment this semester hands down is when I took the Word unit exam... and I didn't even know it. Since I was behind on a lot of assignments I prioritized assignments by due dates. I saw all the assignments that were due by Saturday, and noticed that there was an "assignment" that was due by 2pm. That immediately set off alarms in my head and I just clicked on the exam and started it. I had no idea we were even supposed to do the practice labs first. For the first few minutes I remember thinking "Dang. It's a little hard to focus when the professor is talking about the bonus quiz answers....Wait. It's timed?!... HOW MANY LABS?!?!" Despite all of this, I still got a 95%! So, I guess it all worked out in the end! 😁

File Extensions

Something new I learned in this chapter is file extensions. when saving documents to a computer, a dropdown is available for you to change extensions. I would usually use the extension already preset by the computer without giving it a second thought. Now I am able to change the extensions which is great for editing certain pieces of information! Or, if I want to keep a file as is, I can go ahead and change the file extension so no further changes are made.

Cloud

I was surprised to see that the topic of cloud computing and storage was not a topic previously discussed considering it is something I use on a daily basis. The cloud is an amazing tool...until it's not. Being able to open up any document on any device is such a time saver! That being said, a windy day and a fallen tree could be the difference between convenience and absolute panic. Even if it is a perfect day, the internet is working just fine, and you are ready to sit down and enjoy a snack while you work. Then suddenly you see a page that says "page currently unavailable" or " ______ is experiencing downtime."

Even though I use the cloud to save passwords, I always try to remember all my important logins by memory just in case I am not able to rely on my original sources.

One Year Later

My first day back after one year definitely felt similar to the last time I was here. The last semester that I had classes, they were all done online and that was not fun to say the least. I did also notice that the buildings were more empty than before. The classroom environment itself is also very refreshing to see again. It could just be that I got used to how things were before, but I feel like it is easier to study in school than at home.

Taking IS101 in person definitely helps when it comes to having questions. Email is a good source of communication, but there are times where certain things are time sensitive. Or as we continue on with an assignment, there are more questions. Having an instructor that seems passionate about what they do is a big plus.
